This gorgeous 55 F-100 came in for some service that two other so called "hot rod shops" couldn't fix. It amazes us at the lack of true mechanical knowledge a lot of shops have these days. It's like no one's a true "mechanic" anymore. They seem to just want to change out parts, or fix the symptom but not the true problem.
This poor truck had belt squeak problems from hell, plus a couple of other issues that needed addressing. When it comes to belts, pulleys, cooling systems, accessories, etc, most shops these days just buy kits, bolt them on and expect everything to be just fine, when in fact, 95% of the time that just isn't the case. We see water pump pulleys that are the wrong size thus causing the water pump speed to slow down and then they wonder why they have overheating problems. With these pulley and bracket kits, nothing ever seems to just line-up like they are supposed to. We're always having to mill off a bit here, add a bit there, make new billet spacers that actually fit, etc. because there are so many variances between blocks, heads, accessories, pulleys, etc., nothing ever "just" lines-up they way they are supposed to.
Needless to say, this truck wasn't here 24 hours beforer we had all of the issues solved that the other shops just couldn't solve. It ain't brain surgery, but you have to be a thinking "mechanic" to be able to solve issues and mysteries some cars and trucks end-up with from time to time.
Scott (the owner) did a great job on building this super nice truck, and now that all of the issues are permanently solved, he can actually take it out for a crusie now.
