Ah yes, the $64 thousand dollar question. The best bang for the buck items you can buy to increase the performance of your vehicle are headers, rear-end gears, a higher stall torque converter, better breathing heads and a great cam profile to go along with them.

Unfortunately people pretty much always have cams and carbs that are way too big, and rear-end gears that are too tall, and converters that aren't high enough in stall which makes their cars not perform very well. When it comes down to buying these parts, always remember, go for the smaller carb, the smaller cam, the higher stall speed and the lower set of gears and you'll be hard pressed to go wrong.
