Ray's 55 Chevy Re-Done!

This gorgeous show winner belongs to Ray Richardson here in Sonoma. Yes, this is the same car listed as "Ray's 55" in this gallery, except it got a total face lift since then. The old 450HP 350 of ours he had in it still ran great, but got yanked-out and was sold to another guy with an early Z/28 which now tears-up the streets in Petaluma, Ca. In fact, it's been about 10 years since then and that little 350 is STILL tearing-up the streets!

Once Ray's old engine came out, in went one of our supercharged 350's that is as much "go" as it is show. It has a forged steel crank, forged steel rods and forged pistons, Victor Jr. heads and a roller valve train among many other things. It is very capable of pumping out over 750HP on any given day without a hick-up.

The car itself got fitted with a 4 link rear suspension with coil overs and mini tubs with custom sized American Racing wheels. The transmission is a custom TKO 5 speed. The body was completely gone through and painted this wicked dark green, and if you look close, you can see the gold ghost flames. The entire interior was replaced with a beautiful gray tweed. The car was good enough to take 1st place at the Good Guy's Nationals the first time it was out and since has won dozens of other prestigious shows and awards, including numerous "Best Engine", "Best of Show", "Best Chevy" and "Best Tri-5 Car" awards.
