Eric's 65 Impala

Eric's 65 Impala

This nice 65 Impala street cruiser belongs to Eric Barne's out fo Chicago, Il. Eric contacted us because he wanted a quality 350 that had guts enough to pull this "Heavy Chevy" down the road better than any generic stock 350 could, and that had the quality standrds to last a long time. So that's exactly what we gave him!

This is what Eric had to say about us;

"The car runs great and everyone who hears it is impressed with the killer sound. Their first impression is that I have more than a 350 under the hood until I tell them. This was a complete restoration (sandblasted frame) with almost every movable part being replaced. New auto trans, positive traction rear end, power steering, power brakes and air conditioning were some of the upgrades. The big upgrade was a Bad Ass 350 chevy engine from Bad Ass Cars. Both the look and performance exceeded my expectations. Even though I'm located in Chicago, it seems like I was standing next to Arron as the engine was built. The shipping process was flawless and the engine cranked at the first turn of the key."

Eric's 350 is a 4 bolt main block that we fully machined. Here it is with the new Scat steel crank going in it.

Inside this nice little 350 are Scat 4340 rods and light weight hypereutectic flat top pistons.

Here is a shot of one of the heads with all new valves, guides, PC seals, hard seats for unleaded gas, new springs, locks & retainers, and of course nicely surfaced. Although most of the engines we build have new / after market heads on them, when you are on a budget, we can make older heads better than new. We do these same procedures to ALL of the heads we do, which is why what we do compared to the typical "valve jobs" other shops do simply have no comparison, and why our heads are better and last longer.

Getting the cam degreed-in. This engine is fitted with a roller cam. If you look close you can see the gold anodized billet cam button in the center of the double roller timing gear. We do NOT use stock, cheap late model GM roller cams & lifters like most "cheap" engines have in them. We always use aftermarket performance cams, such as Crane, Comp Cams, Crower, etc, and the lifters we use are also aftermarket performance pieces that use transfer bars which are MUCH lighter and much more durable than stock GM types.

An inside look at the roller valve train with the good roller lifters, plus the Comp Cams chrome moly push rods and Trick Flow roller rockers.

All finished and ready to ship to Chicago. An engine like this can easily run in the $6,500 - $7,500+ range depending on the variables. As always... ya get what ya pay for!
