Ryan's 68 Camaro Sleeper
This unsuspecting, tame looking 68 Camaro belongs to Ryan Bailey of Sonoma. It came-in with a 327 two barrel / Powerglide combo that was on its last legs. Ryan wanted something with some "Go", but not too radical that it couldn't be driven on long drives or break the bank at the gas pump, so we designed a hot little 350 for it which started off as a 4 bolt main block that we fully prepped and machined. It has a Scat 4340 forged crank, Scat Pro Comp I beam rods, forged SRP pistons, Clevite H series bearings, a billet roller cam with lightweight roller lifters, Edelbrock Victor Jr. aluminum heads, ARP bolts everywhere, aluminum roller rockers, a port matched Edelbrock RPM "Air Gap" intake manifold topped off with a Quick Fuel Technology carb and a re-worked billet HEI distributor. It's an easy 435 or so HP with even more than that in raw torque. It's backed by a Hughes Performance TH-400 with a B&M Holeshot 3000 stall converter.
The chassis and suspension also got modied extensively with the addition of a Ford 9" rear-end, a disc brake conversion, all new polygraphite bushings, huge 1 1/4" sway bar, Eibach performance springs, KYB shocks, weld-in sub frame connectors, Cal Trac bars and lots of other little goodies to make this Camaro go exactly where you point it.
Oh, did we mention the 150 HP shot of nitrous? Lurking under the stock hood is a power plant capable of making an easy 575 - 600 HP!
We also installed a new Vintage Air A/C system so driving on hot summer days will be as comfortable as possible.
It looks tame on the outside unless you know what you're looking for. On the underside you can clearly see the weld-in sub frame connectors and the tell tale Cal-Trac bars.
A closer look. Now you can really see the nitrous solenoids, plus an idle soienoid to kick-up the idle when the A/C is turned on.
