383 stroker race engine

This was a road race prepped 383 Chevy I built for a guy named Jon Sikora in Shasta, Ca. It had ultra light JE pistons, 6" 5140 steel rods, a 4340 forged steel crank, a fully studded bottom-end with windage tray and a hand fitted crank scraper, a custom solid roller cam with almost .700" lift, a set of worked-over Dart "Pro-1" CNC ported heads, Jesel shaft rockers with the needle bearing tip option, a ported Super Victor intake, MSD billet distributor and a whole slew of other goodies.

Keep in mind, this particular engine utilized an early  factory "010" 350 4 bolt main block. The Sprint car guys use to use those same blocks in the 360 classes running 650 - 700 HP and they last just fine running at 8,000 RPM all night. Jon wanted to use his existing block for his car. 

The car was clocked at over 162 MPH and as Jon put it: "If I had an extra gear, it would go even faster, 'cause it's got plenty of power, just not enough gearing".

His car was one the top 3 contenders in just about every race it was in. Jon complained that his trophy shelf broke because he had so many sitting on it from the winnings of this car.
